Raise your hand, all cupcakes fans out there.

For those who love cupcakes, here’s a new addition to the cupcake family; Cupcake Chic which is Malaysia’s first cupcake bakery (cupcakery) has opened it’s first outlet at The Curve. I read about it at Honey Star’s blog before but I didn’t pay much attention to it till my pals dragged me there last Saturday as we were having dinner at The Curve.

Different types of cupcakes are available on different days. To know what flavours are available for that specific day, just refer to their big display board at the counter. Cupcake Chic claimed that they use only the finest and freshest ingredients for their cupcakes.

Back to Basic (vanilla cake with vanilla frosting). One piece of the cupcake costs RM 4.50, RM 25.00 for half a dozen and RM 48.00 for one dozen. Might sounded a little bit pricey if compared to its other competitors but these babies were actually bigger in size too, much like the size of a Kenny Roger muffin. But do notice that some of their product contains alcohol, hence might not suitable to be consume by Muslims.

And so we ended up with half a dozen of cupcakes. The purple colour is called Forget Me Not (lavender cake with Baileys frosting), green one is Envy (green tea cake with green tea cheese frosting), orange is Persian Love (pistachio cake with rosewater frosting) and Naughty n’ Nice (vanilla cake with chocolate frosting). They also have some exotic flavours such as Onde-Onde (pandan gula melaka cake with coconut frosting) and Masala Chai (chai cake with chai cheese frosting) but not available on Saturday. I’m eager to see how their Red Velvet looks like.

I had the Envy (nothing to do with my feeling at that time, I had no one to envy about! heh…) which is very soft and spongy. The base cake has a mild green tea flavour while the frosting is a little too sweet for my tastebud but bursting with green tea flavour and yet, not bitter. I wonder if they uses the real green tea powder or artificial flavouring.

  1. wah, another breadstory kinda bakery…oopss, cupcakery, haha! i like green tea cakes but if its artificial flavouring, then, cannot lar..hehe…

    hmm…wonder if there’ll be a queue soon.. 🙂

  2. Oh, another thing that is coming up in Malaysia. First was donuts, now cupcakes… What’s next???!!! Hehe… But it’s a bit pricey for the cupcakes definitely.

  3. One of us is insistent that lovers of doughnuts , pastries ( that will of course include cupcakes ) and the like are for the ladies !

For the rest of us ( except the ladies ) we actually never touch the cakes ( or what look like it at parties ), or maybe we are touching somehing else
    LOL

  4. Cutie: Next… maybe muffin. 😛 Yes, a lil’ bit pricey.

Swee San: Is it? Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to determine it.

    SC: You bake cupcakes??

Team BSG: LOL! But I’m not a lady! :p

  5. Haha…all about cupcakes now…
Precious Pea is right…first it’s doughnuts, then it’s steamboats, now it’s cupcakes….floggers are all in some kind of hype:p

  6. WMW: You followed your friend isn’t it? It will be a really coincident if bumped into you!

Ekeng: Trying the Forget Me Not soon? We shall wait for your pics.

Precious Pea, Christy: Yeah, I bet those entrepreneurs must be laughing all their way to the bank. 😛

  7. vKeong: Hey, thanks dude. 🙂

    Celine: Marketing strategy. Heh.

Teckiee: Curve is near to your place lah. Drag Precious Pea or WMW to go with you. 🙂

Nileey: Hello, thanks for dropping by. They’re open now, you can go anytime.

Wenching & Esiong, Ai Wei: The shop is a bit hidden. If not because of my friends who brought me there, I wouldn’t know about it too.

BBO: Yeah, I think they can do better on the design.

Tummythoz: Eh, really? Ok, I’m not the weird one then. Heheh.

  8. aiyer…penang oni current donut stall, Missy Donuts…Now KL have cupcakes ady…

I think you will automatically know the fakes when you tried the real ones. Currently most bakery serves fakes. So far the oni food I tried with real green tea flavour is Azabu ice cream in spore, one word REAL. lolz. What a shame. In Msia, its either they serve tasteless or fake green tea labeled cakes/pastries…

now, i want those cupcakes!!! *roll on the floor*

  9. aarrghhh!!! me and my mom went to the curve in search of this place but we cudn’t find it, and we din hav time to look for it so we ended up gng elsewhr 😦 now i know whr it is…

  10. Yammylisious: Closed? Next time go earlier 😀

    Lyrical Lemongrass: You’re welcome sister.

Jian: How to differentiate real one? It’ll tastes bitter? Aiks… ask Durianberry pack some for you when she go back to Penang. 😛

Jun: Ahaha… you didn’t read the map leh. 🙂

  11. i love their looks too.. but I’m kinda afraid of the sugary icing that went over the top. but… i still can’t forego this place. haha
Will visit for sure!… but Chris don’t like sweet stuff o.. 😛

  12. hahaha she pack her lab test for me got la…lolz…

I also dunno how to say…the real green tea taste complicated. U dun taste the bitter but u noe its real green tea. erm maybe super tiny tiny bit bitter, i also dunno but it just hit me, “wuah real green tea” lolz.

durianberry! I want cupcakes! *bergolek golek di atas lantai…again*

  13. Christine: Eat first think later! But come to think of it, you won’t be having this all the time, so don’t feel guilty enjoying something sweet. 🙂

    Jian: Lab test….! Haha~!
Em… I might need to taste different types of green tea based food to make comparison >.<

    *Calling out Durianberry… “Mana you??”

  14. me n my frens bought half dozen to try too …but after having dinner at Italiannies, we were too full ..end up i tried the carrot cake flavor … (forgot the name) … not bad la… not ultra sweet
bought naughty n nice, persian love …n forgot wat else…they promo Lycheetini or something..but tarak la…. hmmm

  15. J2K: They just came up with Lycheetini for Chinese New Year. Look quite good though.

Comeon: Yeah, they followed Sprinkles Cupcakes design in almost everything except the packaging.

  16. Ah, that’s an idea — Bailey’s frosting! Must try to make that some day soon.

(My usual blog is argusworld.blogspot.com )

  17. WTF! I hate stupid Malaysians who stole store ideas and concepts from other (ie: Sprinkles Cupcake) business and claim it their own! Geez, get your own idea man! Pissing me off…

  18. i think it’s a little ignorant of them to think that they wouldn’t be found out about the CIPLAK cupcakes from Sprinkles. Eh hello, LA is way more famous than KL. if you surf around Flickr for cupcakes, you’d notice a lot more un-originality. so sad. buka kedai and announce it lagi.

  19. i taste it before..the almond one is so nice but don’t try others coz too sweet…glup2!!but i love the box n i keep it til now..yeah..

  20. thanks a lot for the info…Im actually intended to go to this kedai..but luckily you did mention that some of their product ada alcohol..nampaknya, Bisou is my only choice…
