New Year Day, 1 January 2007 (Part 1)

Finally, some sign of recovery on the Internet access speed here after a quake damaged the undersea fibre optic cable at south of Taiwan last week.

On 1 Jan 2007, I went to a friend’s house (we called him Kai Ching, means Chicken Essence) with another friend, George… thinking of ask him for lunch. But instead of lunch, we end up feasting on his titbids:

Fried anchovies, with a mild spicy taste. His mom said it was brought by a relative from Thailand. :p

Fried anchovies with peanuts and dried chillies. This one tasted better, with a hint of lemon leaves.

Cashew nuts. Nothing extraordinary about this…

Then, we finally went out for lunch at town after getting our jaw tired of nibbling titbids ^^”
Kai Ching suggested we go to the food court at the old Super Kinta. It’s dirty here and the building is old. Super Kinta is Ipoh’s famous shopping centre back in the 80’s but it’s no longer operating now.

My order, “Kai Lap Fan” (Diced Chicken Rice)

Taste a bit bland, not salty. I had to add some soy sauce myself.

Ais Kacang

Not nice as well, ingredients used are not much.

There are 5 of us that time, 4 had the same Diced Chicken Rice and ais kacang, only 1 person had fried rice with Coke!
